It's true. There's a profound lack of anime (including Dragonball Z, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Card Captor Sakura, Escaflowne, etc), manga, giant robots (Giant Robo, Gundam, Transformers, Beast Wars, Heavy Gear or Zoids, etc), superheros (Marvel or DC, including but not limited to the X-Men, The Avengers, Superman, Batman (with or without Robin), Magic: The Gathering, Mage Knight, Warhammer (of any variety, including but not limited to Fantasy Battles, 40K, Battlefleet Gothic), Star Wars (Episode I, II, III, IV, V or VI), Star Trek (movies or myriad of TV series) or Buckaroo Banzai. There's a blatant lack of porn, and the only hot babes you're going to find around here are of the melted plastic variety. While I might reference any of these things in the strip, their inclusion is not a challenge to any holders of copyright, and should fall within the fair use guidelines. I'll usually remember to drop a link to the appropriate site where the copyright holder(s) reside.
Yesterday For Today is hosted on Keenspace, a free webhosting and site automation service for webcomics.
The toys used are mainly produced by PlayMobil, and a number of props were produced Games Workshop.
